Videoinstallation and performance in public space
MACRO Rome, Italy
The subject of this work is the merging of real and virtual spaces and the digitalization of artistic activity. Video works by international artists are shown on a large screen at Museo MACRO Rome and simultaneously on a small screen that the artists carry around like a (smartphone/tablet) prosthesis, the mirror armor symbolising viral duplication and the disappearance of the other behind digital self-reflection. While the videos have a similar format to the streaming platforms where many artists upload their videos, they can be viewed on our bodies and interacted with at the same time. The intertwining of the physical and the digital worlds is questioned and the staging of encounters takes the participatory idea underlying the MACRO_asilo project further into the public space of the city of Rome.
